Katie and Joanna meet on a train headed to Cheyenne, Wyoming. They start talking and find out they
are both headed there to become mail order brides. They quickly become good friends. When they get on a stagecoach with three other young women, Katie becomes suspicious. What is going to happen to them?
Or is it really possible that nothing untoward is happening?
Here's an Interview from Faith with her character Stephany:
Hi, Stephany. I love your name. Thank you for having me here today.
1.
What made you decide to become a mail order bride? What do you expect to happen when you arrive in Cheyenne?
I
had no choice, really. I couldn’t find a job and no one would hire me.
When I saw the ad in the paper, I wrote to Mr. Williamson. When I arrive
in Cheyenne, I expect that Mr. Williamson will be there to meet me and
we will go to the pastor to be married. Then I will take care of his two
children.
2.
Where are you from? Tell us a little about your family and how you feel about leaving them?
*takes in a deep breath and schools her face to a neutral position*
I am from a town in the East that I prefer not to name. My family is all gone and I had no qualms about leaving them.
3.
What makes you suspicious when you and Joanna are joined by the other woman?
Five
young women on one stagecoach with a driver who looks more outlaw than
gentleman and no one else on the stage. That was the situation I found
myself in and it just seems a bit odd and suspicious.
4.
What is your favorite scripture and why?
I
haven’t really read the Bible a lot, but I have always liked the verse
that says, “Cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you.” Even when I
don’t follow it, it’s still a comfort.
5.
What qualities do you hope to find in your soon to be husband and why?
Someone who is gentle, kind, and temperate. I’ve been around too many ill-tempered men to want that in a husband.
6.
What is your most prized possession and why?
I don’t actually have any prized possessions. I never had much money and my mother didn’t leave me anything when she died.
