Q&A: Doing NaNoWriMo?

Q: Are you doing NaNoWriMo this year?

A:  I do intend to do NaNoWriMo, but haven't settled on what will be nice and easy for my brain to play with, and not burn it out so bad as last time. I want to get the 50k words, because it's so much fun to participate with all the other WriMos out there, but I also don't want to exhaust my creativity, since it just finished up a hard job already this year.
(Writing Traitor's Knife basically from March to December last, ready for Beta readers December through Jan; second readers late winter/early spring, final edits/etc, and a release date of July '13. My poor brain worked hard! )
(Many, many thanks to all those who helped out so much by Beta-ing, editing, etc throughout the process! You are the best!)

So, even though my creativity has been muchly taxed the past twelve months, I've had a bit of a rest, and a little vacation, and I don't want to miss out on the NaNo-ing  fun. So... Yes! I will be doing NaNoWriMo!
I just have no idea what I'll be working on.

Are any of you doing NaNoWriMo?

Absolutely! That will be fun to be buddies with you!
We'll cheer each other on and reach dizzying new heights! ;-)

I have a friend who's doing it. I think she said she was in charge of the local NaNoWriMo people in our area or something like that. I could never get that much done under such a time limit!
What kind of plots are you thinking about using?
:)

Hey Hannah!
That would give NaNo and entirely different angle, to have live WriMos around. Never had that, but the online ones are fun enough! ;-)
I've been sparked an idea for a true crime, (which hasn't been my style at All, but... it's a good idea,) then I've got several Hist. romances wanting to be written, or more YA plots to tell. So I'm waiting to see which bites hardest come the first. ;-) Yes, I play it fast and loose that way with NaNo. (It's about having fun!!)

I'm not doing NaNoWriMo. I guess I've just completely missed out on why it excites people. But then, to paraphrase Emma: "Half of the people in the world don't get why the other half likes stuff." :D

haha well she said she's having trouble finding any WriMos in our exact area. Sometimes she says the WriMos have a get together in Waco, but I think they're travelling from other regions of Texas.
Wow...true crime! Historical romance and YA sound more fun, of course, but it would be interesting to see what you did with a true crime plot! :)

Well, Sarah, you might just want to check out the Forums for fun. There are all kinds of crazy genius ideas that go on in there, and it's great fodder to feed the writerly brain. Fresh takes on just about everything, and fun plot twists that make me go "Oooo! I could snag that! NO ONE would see my-version-of-it coming."
And I'm not going to do the true crime, which lets me back to the historicals. ;-) Can't wait!!

lol, I have gotten the impression that most of the fun of NaNoWriMo comes from the socializing that goes on--including idea swapping, of course. But there's no way I'm going to churn out 50,000 words at warp speed just because everyone else is doing it. I am just TOO lazy. :D
